My first book appeared on Amazon in 2024. I called it “My Formative Years: One to Eighty-One,“ which was my age when I wrote it. It is 74 pages of memoirs beginning at the age of one. My life has not been exciting, but to some with an interest in ancient history, the book elicited a few smiles. I base that conclusion on the response I got from those who read it. I did not publish to sell books. As a lawyer with the federal government, I had made my living by writing, but not for amusement.

The law is not amusing. When I retired, however, I jotted some essays for fun. Confined to my home for the pandemic, I wrote with greater diligence and emailed stories to friends. I solicited comments on the quality of my work and how I could improve it. I knew their responses were honest because many were negative.
